Wisdom Tooth Removal in Ghaziabad
Not every wisdom tooth has to go, so the first step in wisdom tooth removal in Ghaziabad is finding out whether yours actually needs it. Wisdom teeth usually come through in the late teens or early twenties, and many jaws do not have enough room for them. Dr Urvashi Verma's Dental Clinic in Indirapuram provides simple and surgical extractions, and an X-ray shows which you would need.

When removal makes sense
- Repeated swelling and infection in the gum around the tooth
- Decay in the wisdom tooth that cannot be repaired
- Damage to the neighbouring molar
- Food that keeps getting trapped and cannot be cleaned out
- A cyst around a tooth that has not come through
A wisdom tooth that is healthy, upright and easy to clean can often stay. Being impacted, which means stuck against bone or another tooth, is not by itself a reason to operate if it causes no trouble. The dentist will just keep an eye on it.
Simple or surgical?
A tooth that has fully come through can usually be lifted out much like any other tooth. A tooth still under the gum or lying at an angle needs a surgical extraction: the gum is opened, some bone may be removed, and the tooth may be taken out in sections. Lower teeth lie near a nerve, so the X-ray is studied closely. If yours looks complicated, you will be told, and a further scan may be advised.
The first week afterwards
- Day one: bite on the gauze as directed, rest, and use a cold pack. Do not spit, rinse or use a straw.
- Days two and three: swelling peaks. Eat soft, cool food, and start gentle salt-water rinses if you have been told to.
- Days four to seven: things settle. Return to normal food slowly.
Avoid smoking and tobacco, as they slow healing and raise the risk of dry socket. Call the clinic about bleeding that will not stop, pain that gets worse after day three, or fever.

Frequently asked questions
Will I be awake during removal?
Most wisdom teeth are removed under local anaesthetic, so you are awake but the area is numb. You will feel pressure, not pain.
How long will I need off work?
Many people take a day or two after a simple removal, and a little longer after a surgical one. The doctor can advise once your tooth has been assessed.
Should all four be removed together?
Not usually unless all four are causing problems. It depends on your X-ray and your symptoms.
Are there risks?
Swelling, dry socket and infection can occur. Numbness near a lower tooth is rare and usually temporary. Your own risks are explained before you agree.
